HomeSys Privacy Policy

In order to provide the HomeSys service, we sometimes need to collect information about you. This Privacy Policy explains what information we may collect about you, how we use that information, whether we'll disclose your details to anyone else, the use of cookies on the HomeSys website.

What information will HomeSys collect about me?

When you create an account using our online registration system, we may receive personal information about you; currently this information comprises your user name email-address,and optional info location, contact number. (Non-essential)

By submitting your details, you enable HomeSys (and, if applicable, its security contractors) to provide you with the products, services or activities you select.

HomeSys may also collect a range of information about the way you use the service.

 

Where users are adding IP cameras to their HomeSys account we scan the local network and return information about Homesys network devices on your network to our servers, this is so our system can discover your available IP cameras and add them to your account. We will store this device data in our database for the purposes of support and service improvement - it will not be used for any other purpose.

We will capture, process and retain video and audio data recordings from the IP cameras for the duration of your recording subscription period (for example, 10 or 30 days) and you will be able to access those recordings using the Services during that time.

 

HomeSys may also use cookies (see below for details) and collect IP addresses (an IP address is a number that can sometimes uniquely identify a specific computer or other network device on the internet) from visitors to the HomeSys website.

We do not collect or store personal information concerned with payment such as credit card numbers – all payments are processed and handled by our payment processors, currently Paypal ,Google or Apple.

Under the General Data Protection Regulation you remain the owner and data controller of your personal video data. Where we store the data we act as data processor. We will only view your video data with your express permission, as may be required as part of sharing the information with our security subcontractors in accordance with the strict restrictions set out below.

 

How will HomeSys use the information it collects about me?

HomeSys will use your personal information for a number of purposes including the following:

to provide our service and to deal with your requests and enquiries, for "service administration purposes", which means that HomeSys may contact you for reasons related to the service you have signed up for (e.g. to provide you with password reminders or to notify you that a particular product, service or activity will be suspended for maintenance);

1.contact you about a submission you have made, including any content you provide;

2.provide you with information about our services, products or activities;

3.personalise the way the HomeSys service is presented to you;

4.use IP addresses to identify the location of users, to block disruptive use, to establish the number of visits from different countries and to analyse and improve the HomeSys service and provide you with the most user-friendly experience.

Will HomeSys share my personal information with anyone else?

HomeSys will keep your information confidential except where (i) disclosure is required or permitted by law (for example to law enforcement agencies who require the information from us in a formal legal request or pursuant to court orders or legal process), or (ii) we have your consent to disclose the information, or (iii) as deemed necessary, in our reasonable discretion, to protect the legal rights or property of HomeSys or a customer or third party, or to prevent personal injury, or (iv) in the event HomeSys is required to transfer personally identifiable information to a third party in the event of a sale, merger, assignment, joint venture or other transfer or disposal of all or part of its business.

 

Data Protection

We hold personal information in electronic formats (including through use of storage in the cloud). We will take all reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold against loss, unauthorised access, use, modification or disclosure and against other misuse. These steps include password protection for electronic files and running anti-virus software.

In relation to use of our website, please note that our site may contain links to sites of our partners or other third parties.We recommend you check the privacy policies on these sites before posting personal information to them as we cannot accept any responsibility for how they use or disclose your personal information.

 

Geographical location

 

HomeSys offers a number of data regions. A HomeSys “Data Region” is a set of data centers located within a defined geographical area where User and Respondent data is stored. Personal Data is not transmitted between Data Regions. For HomeSys Users with accounts located in HomeSys’s European Data Region, all Personal Data is processed in the EEA. For Users with accounts in the Data Regions: United States of America (US) and Canada, all Personal Data is processed solely in the respective country. For Users with accounts in our Asia Pacific Data Region, all Personal Data is processed in Taiwan.

 

Processing in the European Economic Area (EEA)

For Users with accounts located in HomeSys’s European Data Region, all processing of Personal Data is performed in accordance with privacy rights and regulations following the EU Directive 95/46/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 24 October 1995 (the Directive), and the implementations of the Directive in local legislation. From May 25th, 2018, the Directive and local legislation based on the Directive will be replaced by the Regulations (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of Personal Data and on the free movement of such data, known as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and HomeSys’s processing will take place in accordance with the GDPR.

 

Processing in the United States Of America (US)

For Users with accounts in the HomeSys US Data Region, HomeSys processes data solely in data centers located in the US. HomeSys has adopted reasonable physical, technical and organizational safeguards which substantially mirror the EU safeguards against accidental, unauthorized or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, disclosure, access, use or processing of the User’s data in HomeSys’s possession. HomeSys will promptly notify the User in the event of any known unauthorized access to, or use of, the User’s data.

Processing in Canada

For Users with accounts in the HomeSys Canada Data Region, HomeSys processes data solely in data centers located in Canada. HomeSys has adopted reasonable physical, technical and organizational safeguards which substantially mirror the EU safeguards against accidental, unauthorized or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, disclosure, access, use or processing of the Users data in HomeSys’s possession. HomeSys will promptly notify the User in the event of any known unauthorized access to, or use of, the User’s data.

 Processing in other regions

For Users with accounts in our Asian Pacific Data Region, HomeSys processes data solely in data centers located in Taiwan. HomeSys has adopted reasonable physical, technical and organizational safeguards which substantially mirror the EU safeguards against accidental, unauthorized or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, disclosure, access, use or processing of the Users data in HomeSys’s possession. HomeSys will promptly notify the User in the event of any known unauthorized access to, or use of, the User’s data.
